Verse 1
त्वं विश्वभूर्भूतपतिः पुराणः पर्जन्य एको भुवनस्य गोप्ता ॥ ||१||
tvaṃ viśvabhūrbhūtapatiḥ purāṇaḥ parjanya eko bhuvanasya goptā || 1 ||
You are the universal being, the lord of all creatures, the ancient one; you alone are the protector of the universe.
Verse 2
अजातमग्ने स हिरण्यरेता यज्ञस्त्वमेवैकविभुः पुराणः ॥ ||२||
ajātamagne sa hiraṇyaretā yajñastvamevaikavibhuḥ purāṇaḥ || 2 ||
O uncreated fire, you alone are the eternal sacrifice, the one who is all-pervading and ancient.
Verse 3
त्वं विश्वभूर्योनिपारः स्वगर्भे कुमार एको विशिखः सुधन्वा॥ ||३||
tvaṃ viśvabhūryonipāraḥ svagarbhe kumāra eko viśikhaḥ sudhanvā || 3 ||
You are the universal essence, the source of all beings, the singular arrow of the divine, the one who holds the nectar.
Verse 4
भासा त्वया व्योग्नि कृतः सुतार्क्ष्यस्त्वं वै कुमारस्त्वमरिष्टनेमिः ।। ||४||
bhāsā tvayā vyogni kṛtaḥ sutārkṣyastvaṁ vai kumārastvamariṣṭanemiḥ || 4 ||
By your light, O fire, you are indeed the son of the sun; you are the eternal youth, the one who is free from decay.
Verse 5
स्वाहा स्वधा यच्च वषट् करोति रुद्रः पशूनां गुहया निमग्नः॥ ||५||
svāhā svadhā yacca vaṣaṭ karoti rudraḥ paśūnāṃ guhayā nimagnaḥ || 5 ||
The one who is called Rudra, immersed in the cave of beings, performs the utterance of 'svāhā' and 'svadhā' and invokes with the sound 'vaṣaṭ'.
Verse 6
भूतं भविष्यत्प्रभवः क्रियाश्च कालः क्रमस्त्वं परमाक्षरं च ॥ ||६||
bhūtaṃ bhaviṣyatprabhavaḥ kriyāśca kālaḥ kramastvaṃ paramākṣaraṃ ca || 6 ||
You are the cause of what has been and what will be, the actions, the time, and the sequence; you are the supreme imperishable.
Verse 7
त्वं यज्ञनेता हुतभुग्विभुश्च रुद्रास्तथा दैत्यगणा वसुश्च ॥ ||७||
tvaṃ yajñanetā hutabhugvibhuśca rudrāstathā daityagaṇā vasuśca || 7 ||
You are the leader of sacrifices, the enjoyer of offerings, the great one, as well as the Rudras, and also the host of demons and the wealth.
Verse 8
हिरण्मयं यस्य विभाति सर्वं व्योमान्तरे रश्मिमिमंसुनाभिः।। ||८||
hiraṇmayaṃ yasya vibhāti sarvaṃ vyomāntare raśmimimaṃsunābhiḥ।। ||8||
Whose golden essence illuminates everything, within the space, with rays that are like the sun.
Verse 9
प्रोता त्वमोता विचितिः क्रमाणां प्रजापतिश्छन्दमयो विगर्भः ॥ ||९||
protā tvamotā vicitiḥ kramāṇāṃ prajāpatiśchandamayo vigarbhaḥ || 9 ||
You are the essence of all beings, the subtle connection of the sequences; you are the creative force of the Lord of creatures, the embodiment of the sacred syllable.
Verse 10
यमध्वरे ब्रह्मविदः स्तुवन्ति सामैर्यजुर्भिः क्रतुभिस्त्वमेव॥ ||१०||
yamadhvare brahmavidaḥ stuvanti sāmairyajurbhiḥ kratubhistvameva || 10 ||
Those who know Brahman praise you with the hymns of the Sāma and Yajur Vedas; it is you alone who are to be worshipped.
Verse 11
त्वमेव धाता वरुणश्च राजा त्वं वत्सरोऽग्न्यर्यम एव सर्वम्॥ ||११||
tvameva dhātā varuṇaśca rājā tvaṃ vatsaro'gnaryama eva sarvam|| 11 ||
You alone are the sustainer; Varuna, the king, you are the source of all beings, including Agni and Yama.
Verse 12
त्वं विष्णुर्भूतानि तु त्रासि दैत्यांस्त्वयावृतं जगदुद्भवगर्भः॥ ||१२||
tvaṃ viṣṇurbhūtāni tu trāsi daityāṃsthayāvṛtaṃ jagadudbhavagarbhaḥ || 12 ||
You are Vishnu, the one who protects all beings; you are the source of the universe, enveloped by the demons.
Verse 13
हिरण्मयं बुद्धिमतां परां गतिं स बुद्धिमान्बुद्धिमतीत्य तिष्ठतीत्युपनिषत् ॥ ||१३||
hiraṇmayaṃ buddhimatāṃ parāṃ gatiṃ sa buddhimān buddhimatītya tiṣṭhatītyupaniṣat || 13 ||
The one who is endowed with wisdom, who has attained the supreme goal of the wise, remains steadfast in that wisdom, thus it is stated in the Upanishad.
