Chapter 14: On How the World is Mere Imagination
Verse 1
पञ्चदशो<ध्यायः इति शथ्रुत्वा शैललोकाख्यानमत्यद्भुतं तदा। भूयोउत्यन्त॑ विस्मितो5्भूद्रामों भृगुकुलोइहः ॥ १ ॥
Hearing the sage's words and considering with an auspicious intellect, he quickly abandoned sorrow, knowing the world's state to be like a dream.
Verse 2
अष्टाचक्रका प्रसक्ष इप्त प्रकार शैललोककी अत्यन्त अनोखी गाथा सुनकर भृगुनन्दन श्री परशुराम जीको बड़ा ही अचम्भा हुआ ॥ १॥। उन्होंने गुरुदेवके कथनपर शुद्ध बुद्धिसे विचार किया और फिर 'कुछ नशग्वयकर श्रीदत्तात्रेयजीके पास जा उन्हें आद्रपृवक्र नमस्कार करके पूछा ॥ २॥
Taking hold of courage and free from sorrow, he again asked the sage's son: "O son of the sage, of great intelligence, seer of the past and future."
Verse 3
विम्रज्य गुरुणा प्रोक्त वुद्धधा निश्चित्य झुद्धया। दत्तात्रेय॑ पुनगेत्वा नत्वा ग्रपच्छ सादरम्॥ २ भगवन् यक्या प्रोक्तमाख्यानेर्विविधेस्तु तत। तत्र॒सारमियज्ज्ञात॑ मयात्यन्त॑ विचारतः ॥ ३ ॥
"I think there is nothing unknown to you, even slightly. I ask you, kindly tell me what I inquire about."
Verse 4
संवेदन॑ सत्यमेक॑ संवेध तत्र कल्पितम् । आदशनगरप्रख्यं मृपेत्र प्रविभावितम्र् ॥ ४॥
"You say all this arises from thought. How then does what I further contemplate not become external in any way?"
Verse 5
सा चितिः परमा शक्तिः संविद्रूपा महेश्वरी। स्वात्मभित्तों जगच्चित्रमव्यक्तादिप्रभेदितम् ॥ ५॥
"You created the world in the mountain perfected by thought, but also how can place and time be diverse simultaneously?"
Verse 6
भावयेत्सवातन्त्यमात्रा त्रिरुपादा न हेतु कम् । एतावत्त मया ज्ञात पिचाय सक्ष्मया धया ॥ ६ ॥
"Which of the two there is untrue? Reveal that to me. Thus asked, the sage's son began to explain."
Verse 7
“सगवन् ! आपने अनेकों आख्यानों द्वाराजो कुछ कहा हे उस पर अत्यन्त विचार करके मेंने उसका यह सार समझता हैं“ ३ ॥ 'एक ज्ञान ही सत्य है, ज्ञेय ( दृश्य ) उसमें कल्पित है| दर्पणमें प्रतिबिम्बित नगरके समान उसकी मिथ्या भावना कर ली गरयी है ॥४॥ वह ज्ञानस्वरूपा परमाशक्ति चिति साक्षात् महेखरी है! वह अपने स्वातन्श्यसे बिना किसी उपादानके ही अपने ही स्व॒रूपभूत भित्तिपर इस अव्यक्तादि भेदों बाले जगच्चित्रकी कल्पना कर लेती हैं ।' मेंने तो सूक्ष्म बुद्धिसे विचार करके इतना ही समझा है ॥ ४-३६ ॥| २०८ त्रिपुरारहस्ये ज्ञानखण्डे कि स्वेबंविधसंवित्तिवेद्रवन्ध्या निरूपिता। उपलब्धुमशक्येव सर्वेधायाः सदा स्थितेः! ॥ ७॥
"Intention and thought are said to be twofold: accomplished or unaccomplished. Accomplishment is the absence of alternatives, but unaccomplishment is due to fixed purpose on an alternative."
Verse 8
वेद्य बिना तु संवित्ते! कथ स्यादुपलम्भनम् । उपलम्भ॑ विना तस्याः पुरुषाथों न विद्यते ॥ ८ ॥
"See this world, born by thought of Brahman. Indeed, this is thought by all as real, firmly."
Verse 9
पुरुषार्थोषि मोक्षः स्पात्स वा किंविध उच्यते। विज्ञाने सति मोक्षः स्यान्युक्ते व्यवहतिः कथम ॥ ९ ॥
"Similarly, in one's own intention, there is no thought by anyone. This division of alternatives leads to unaccomplishment; therefore, it is diverse thought."
Verse 10
ज्ञिनिनोषपि च दृश्यन्ते व्यवहारपरायणाः। कथ्थं तेषां हि स्वेद्यमुक्त॑ संवेदन स्थितम् ॥ १० ॥
"The accomplishment of thought is established here in many ways: by birth, by gem, similarly by herb, and by yoga."
Verse 11
स्थितायां शुद्धसंवित्तों व्यवहारः कथं भवेत् । विज्ञानमेकरूप वे मोक्षोप्येक!ः फल भवेत् ॥ ११॥
"By austerity, by mantra accomplishment, and by boon, O king, it is indeed by birth in Brahmanas, by gem in Yakshas and Rakshasas."
Verse 12
तत्कथं ज्ञानिनां भेदः स्थिती लोके हि च्श्यते । के चित्कम ग्रकुबेन्ति काले सच्छाख्रचोदितम् ॥ १२॥
"But by herb, in gods, by yoga, of yogis, it is by austerity of ascetics, and by mantra of those with mantras."
Verse 13
के चित्समाराधयन्ति देवतां भिन्नवस्मेत्रिः ! किन्तु इस प्रकारकी डस चितिको तो वेद्यभावसे शून्य [ अर्थात् अज्ञेय ] कहा गया है। और यदि उसकी स्थिति सबंदा उपलब्धिके अयोग्य ही हैँ तो ज्ञानकी विषय न होनेके कारण उस चितिकों किसीको उपलब्धि ही केस हो सकती हैँ। ओर उस्की उपलब्धिके बिना पुरुपा थेकी सिद्धि नहीं हो सकती | ७-८ | पुरुषाथ भी यदि मांक्ष है तो वह क्रिस प्रकारका कहा जाता है | यदि ज्ञान हानपर मोक्ष हो जाता हे तोमुक्तिके अनन्तर उस जीव न्मुक्तका व्यवद्दार केस होता ढे. ? ॥ ६ ॥ ज्ञानियोंकी भी व्यवद्दारमें दत्पर दो देखा दी जाता ह। ऐसी बस्णारने उनका ज्ञान क्षबह्ौन ( निर्बए्प ) केस रहता है / | ९२ ॥। उनका ज्ञान निर्विकल्प ही रहदा ८ तो उनके हार व्यवहार है? [ इसके सिवा एफ संशय यद भी हैं कि ] ज्ञान ता सवा एक जेसा हो हाता & आर उसका फल माशक्ष भो एक हा £। फिर लोकपमें ज्ञानियांकी स्थितिम नंद क्या देखा जाता है ॥ (१-९६ ९०॥ ज्ञानियांमें कोई दो यथासमय शाख्रोक्त काय करत हैँ; कांड भिन्न पत्चदशो5ध्याय:ः | २०६ केचित्समाधिपरमाः संहतेन्द्रियमप्डलाः ॥ १३ ॥
"Of Vishvakarma and others, by boon attainment, it indeed became intended, similarly to be thought accomplished, by forgetting the past."
Verse 14
केचित्तपः प्रकुबन्ति देहेन्द्रियविशोषणम् । केचिच्छिष्यान्ताोधयन्ति एथक्प्रवचनं; स्फुटम ॥ १४ ॥
"Then the thought becomes stable, indeed until the previous is not remembered. Thus, indeed, non-dual thought if stable."
Verse 15
पञ्चद्श अध्याय ॥ १५॥
"Without desire, until it is not divided by alternatives, then that thought, indeed is accomplished, and achieves a great result."
Verse 16
कीचद्राज्य प्रशासान्त दष्डनात्युक्तवत्मंना | केचित्मवाद कुबेन्ति सदसु अतिवादिभिः ॥ १५॥ केचिच्छाद्धाणि विविधान्यज्स रचयन्ति वे। अउन्ये. केवलप्ुग्धत्यमावहन्ति सदेव हि ॥ १६ ॥
"From division, due to alternatives, your thought is not accomplished. Accomplish the thought quickly if you desire to create."
Verse 17
केपि लोकविगह्यों तु इत्ति नित्यमिहास्थिताः इमे ज्ञानिन इति प्रथिता भूरिशोचने। ॥ १७॥
"Listen, O king, to my speaking of the duality of place and time. You see, you are unaffected by the world's transactions, therefore…"
Verse 18
तत्कथ॑ साधनफलाभेदेषि स्थितिभिन्नता । किमेते समविज्ञानास्तारतम्यम्ुुताशिताः ॥ १८ ॥
"This picture of the world appears indeed. Listen properly as I speak to you. This nature of the world's being which appears by diversity."
Verse 19
एतत्सवमशेषेण. प्रवक्त में. समहेसि । शिष्यजनन्यशरण्य. त॑ नसगेसदर्थय मन ॥ १९ ॥
"Indeed, the light of the sun exists as twofold: to the day-blind, it is darkness; but to others, it is illuminating."
Verse 20
"Water obstructs the breath of humans and animals, but for fish and others, there is no breath obstruction in water."
Verse 21
इत्यात्रिसनुराप्ट भागवेण असन्नधीः । भिन्न प्रणालियोंसे देवताओंकी आराधना करते हैं, कोई इन्द्रियग्रामका संयम करके समाधिमें तत्पर रहते हूँ, कोई देह ओर इन्द्रियोंकोी सुखानेवाला तप करते दें, कोई तरह-तरहके बचनों द्वारा स्पष्टतया शिष्योंको उपदेश करते है, कोई दण्डजीतिमें बताये हुए नियमोंके अनुसार राज्यशासन करते हैं, कोई सभाओंमें प्रतिवादियोंके साथ वाद-बिवाद् करते हैं, कोई निरन्तर तरह-तरहके शास्तरोंकी रचना करते रहते ढेँ ओर कोई सव॒दा पागलपनका स्वांग ही बनाये रहते हैं ॥ १९ उ०-१६॥ कोई इस लोकमें निनन््दनीय बवृत्तिका आचरण करते हैं। फिर भी अत्यन्त चिन्तनशील लोग निश्चय करते हूँ कि ये सभी ज्ञानी दूँ ॥ १७॥ तब ऐजडा क्यों हें कि साधन और फलमें भद् न होनेपर भी इनकी स्थितियोंसें भेद हे | इन सबका ज्ञान ध्रमान ही होता हैँ अथवा उसस न्यूनाविकता रहती है १॥ *८॥॥। कृपया यह सब रहस्य मुझसे समकाकर कहिये। मुझे किसी अन्यका आश्रय नहीं हं। अपने इस शिष्यक्क प्रति आपका चित्त स्वभावसे ही दयाद्र है”? ॥ १६ ॥ परशुरामजीके इस प्रकार प्रश्न करनेपर श्रीदत्तात्रेजज्ञी बड़े 25५ २१० त्रिपुरारहस्ये ज्ञानखण्डे मत्वा योग्य प्रश्नजातं॑ प्रवक्तप्रुपचक्रमे ॥ २०-॥ राम वुरद्धमतां श्रेष्ठ नून॑ स्पृशसि तत्पदम् । सद्दिमशेपरो यस्त्वमतो ज्ञातुं प्रभावित! ॥ २१ ॥
"Fire burns mortals and others, but the water-bird devours that. Fire is extinguished by water, yet it sometimes burns in water."
Verse 22
एतदेव हि. तच्छक्तिपातो यत्सद्विमश्ेनम् । भगवच्छक्तिपातेन विना के श्रेय आप्नुयात् ॥ २२ ॥
"Thus, all entities in the world exist in dual forms. Similarly, some have sensory functions, while others are without senses."
Verse 23
कृत्यमात्मदेवताया जानीह्येतावदेव हि। यत्सद्विमशेन॑ नित्य वधयेत्सुप्रसादिता ॥ २३ ॥
"Indeed, by nature, there are hundreds and thousands of contradictions. Here, I will explain this with an attentive mind, listen."
Verse 24
यस्वया विदित तत्तु ताबक् सत्यं नहींतरत् । किन्तु तत्तादशमपि त्वयोक्त परचिद्वपु: ॥ २४ ॥
"These objects, indeed, are mere modifications of the eye. There is nothing else visible anywhere outside of the eye."
Verse 25
ने ते सुविदित राम यत एवं वदस्यतः। ताटस्थ्येन तु यो यावद्वेद तावन्न वेद वे ॥ २५॥
"As one with jaundiced eyes sees everything as yellow, and another with cataract sees one thing as two."
Verse 26
यतः सा विदिता सम्यक्ताटस्थ्यम्ुपशामयेत् । तटस्थसंवेदन॑ तु स्वष्नसंवेदनोपमम्म॒ ॥ २६ ॥
"Thus, those with different defective eyes see the world in various ways. There is a place named Karandaka in the middle of the eastern sea."
Verse 27
प्रसन्न हुए ओर उनके प्रश्नोंकी उचित समझकर उन्होंने कहना आरम्भ किया--| २० ॥| 'परशुरास ! तुम बुद्धिमानोंमें श्रेप्त हो । तुमने अवश्य उस पदका सपशे प्राप्त किया है । तुम सद्विचारमें तत्पर हो, इसलिये उसे जाननेकी भी योग्यता रखते द्वो | २१॥ यह जो सद् विचार करतनों हे वही भगवानकी अनुग्रइशाफिको पाना है। मला रुनको अनुग्रहशक्तिको प्राप्त किये बिना कोन उस परमपदको प्राप्त कर सकत। है ? ॥ २२॥ उस आत्मदेवका काय तो केवल इतन। द्वी समझो कि वह प्रसन्न होकर निरन्तर सद्दिचारकी वृद्धि करता रहे ॥ २३ | तुमने जो कुछ समझा है. वह तो उतना ही हे; उससे भिन्न नहीं | किन्तु वह बसा होनेपर भो तुमने जिस परा चिच्छक्तिकी चचो की है. वह अभी तुन्हें ठीक-ठीक ज्ञात नहीं है। इसीसे तुम ऐसी शंका करते €। ॥ २४-२४ पू० ॥ जबतक साधक तटस्थरूपसे उसे जानता हे तबतक बास्तवम नहीं जानता; क्योंकि झब उसका ठीक-ठीक ज्ञान हो जाता है तो वटस्थता पद्चदशो5ध्याय:ः । २११ यथा स्वप्ननिधिप्राप्तोिः पुरुषाणां निरथिका । तथा तटस्थविज्ञानममुख्यफलदं भवेत् ॥ २७ ॥
"There, on the island, people always see objects as red. Similarly, people always see things in the island of Ramanaka."
Verse 28
अन्र ते कथयिष्पामि प्रागवृत्तमतिशोभनम् ! पुरा विदेहदेषु कब्रिदासीद्राजा सुधार्मिकः ॥ २८ ॥
"The entire realm of objects is reversed from top to bottom. Thus, in other islands, the realm of objects is various."
Verse 29
वृद्ध्॒रज्ञों| हि. जनकः प्रविज्ञातपरावरः स॒ कदाचित्स्वात्मदेवीमीजे कऋ्रतुभिरुतमेः ॥ २९ ॥
"People always see according to the nature of their eyes. There, if anything is seen otherwise, somewhere."
Verse 30
तत्राजम्मुत्नोह्मणाधा. विद्यावन्तस्तपस्िनः कलाभिज्ञा वेदिकाश्व॒ यज्वानश्रापि सत्रिणः ॥ ३० ॥
"By effective medicine, the eyes see as before. Thus, whatever is seen on the surface of the earth is seen by the eye."
Verse 31
तत्काल एवं वरुणो यष्द समुपचक्रमे तेनोपहता विप्राद्या न ययुस्तत्र भूरिश। ॥ ३१ ॥
"As long as the part of the eye is like yellow, due to jaundiced eyes, similarly the parts of the sense organs like smell and others are too, certainly."
Verse 32
जनके दह्यभिसंप्रीताः पूजितास्तेन तर्पिताः अथाजगाम..._ वरुणदायादो. बोद्धसम्पदा ॥ ३२ ॥
"Mental and mere mind is, thus indeed the entire world. The order we see also arises from the nature of the senses, from that, nothing is outside."
Verse 33
"Listen, O king, that which appears merely outside in the world, that original nature of all worlds, is like the canvas of the world picture."
Verse 34
विप्रवेषधरो. नेतुं. आश्मणान्कूटवत्मना । निवृत्त हो जाती है। उसे तटस्थरूपसे जानना तो स्वप्नब्ञानके समान है ॥| २४५ उ०-२६ || जिस प्रकार स्वप्नमें खज़ानेकोः पा लेनी मनुष्यके किसी काम नहीं आता, उसी प्रकार वटस्थ श्लान मनुष्यको मोक्षरूप मुख्य फल नहीं दे सकता ॥ २७ ॥ अब में तुमसे एक अति सुन्दर प्राचीन वृत्तान्त कहता हूँ। पूरे कालमें में कोई रू कालमें विदेह-राज्यमें जनक नामका कोई षमनिष्ठ और बुद्धिमान राजा था। उसे परमात्माका ज्ञान हो चुका था ॥ २८-२६ पू० ॥ उपतने किसी समय उत्तम यज्ञों द्वारा अपने आत्मदेवकी आराधना की | उसके यज्ञोंमें अनेकों विद्वान् और तपस्वी ब्राह्मणादि पधारे | वे अनेकों कलाओंके ज्ञाता, वेदक्ष, यज्ननशील ओर सत्रोंका अनुष्ठान करनेवाले थे ॥ २६ उ०-३० || उसी समय बरुणने भी यज्ञ आरम्भ किया। उसके निमन्त्रित करनेपर भी अनेकों ब्राह्मणादि, जनकसे अधिक प्रेम हो जाने और उत्से पूजित तथा तृप्त होनेके कारण बहाँ नहीं गये ॥ ३१०३२ पू० ॥ तब यरुणका पुत्र अपने बुड्धिवेभवसे कूटमार्गद्वारा ब्राह्मणों को ले जाने: रश२ त्रिपुरारहस्ये ल्लानखण्डे आसाध्य यज्लसदन नृएपं संयोज्य चाशिषा ॥ रे३ ॥ आधहिपत्तत्र सम्यांस्तु शृण्वताश्ल समासदाम्। राजस्ते यज्ञलसदनमत्य॑ंन्त॑ नेव भोमते ॥ ३४॥
"Certainly, the support of that external, to be stated, is indeed the body. It is the support; otherwise, this world is not capable."
Verse 35
नतत्तकण सुज्ञेयमपि सक्ष्मधिया कचित्। पर ऊहापोह करनेपर थी जब उसके प्रश्नका उत्तर न सुझा तो बह हद्विजश्रेंप्ठत बोला--॥ ७९१ उ०-७२ पू० ॥ तपस्विनीजी ! में आपके प्रश्न का उत्तर नहीं जानता | में आपका शिष्य हूं, अब आप ही बताइये कि शाखमें ऐला विरोधी निरूपण क्यां मिलता है? में तपस्याको क्षीण कंरनेवाला अनथकारी असत्यभाषण नहीं करता हूँ ।| ७२ उ०--७३ ॥ इस प्रकार पूछे जानेपर तपस्विनी उसके सत्य-भाषणसे प्रसन्न हो गयी तथा सब सभासदोंके सुनते हुए अष्टाक्रसे कहने लगी | ७४ ॥ “बत्स ! इस रहस्यकों न जाननेके कारण ही बहुत लोग मोहसमें पड़ जाते दूँ ! यह बात कोरे तकसे समभमें आनेवालो नहीं हे और सभी शाख्ोंमें बहुत गुप्त है ॥ ३५ ॥
"What indeed is the support of that appearance outside? When stated as the mountain is outside, the mountain is not actually outside."
Verse 36
कमलाकरवत्काककडझटन्द््य सश्ययात् । सभा विद्वत्सप्ुदयेः छोमिनी शझोमतेतराम्॥ २५ ॥ शारद॑ हंससंघातेः सपञ्म तु सरो यभा। तदत्र विधाविश्ृद न॒पश्याम्पेकृमप्यलम ॥ ३६ ॥
"As the pot appears outside, so likewise the body. It is not possible to state as outside from the perspective of the illuminator."
Verse 37
"The illumination of the lamp and sun's light from outside is not justified. Therefore, the internal illumination of the illuminator is thus only justified."
Verse 38
"The illuminator is not the body and others, as they are being illuminated like the mountain and others. The illuminator is not in any way the illuminated, indeed that is justified."
Verse 39
स्वस्ति ते5स्तु गमिष्यामि नात्र मे संस्थितिभेवेत् । कर्थ सभामिमां मूखेप्रचुरां संविज्ञाम्पहम् ॥ रे७ ॥ एवं वारुणिना प्रोक्ताः सम्याइचुकुपुरंजसा किमरे दिजबन्धों ! त्वमधिक्षिपसि सबेतः.॥ रे८ ॥ केय तवेदशी विद्या यया सर्वे वययं जिताः। वृथा कत्थसि दुचुद्धे जित्वास्मांस्त्य॑ गमिष्यसि ॥ ३९ ॥
"If the illuminator is also being illuminated, there is instability of the illuminator. Indeed, oneself being the illuminator and being illuminated is not justified."
Verse 40
के लिये ब्राह्मणका वेष घारण फर जनकके यह्षमें आया ३२ उ०-३३पू०। उसने यज्ञशालामें आकर राजाको आशीबोद दे त्व सभासदोंको सुनाते हुए उनपर आक्षेप किया, “राजन! यक्नमण्डप तो बिशेष शोभित नहीं है, जिस प्रकार कौए और कंकसंसुदायके इक हो जानेसे सरोबरकी शोभा नहीं होती ॥ ३३ उ०-३५ पू० ॥ सुन्दर सभाकी शोभा तो विह्त्समुदायसे द्वी द्वोती दे, जेसे फमलोंसे युक्त शरत्कालीन सरोवर हंससमूहसे दी सुशोभित होता है।॥ ३५ उ०-३६ पू० ॥ सो, मुझे तो यहाँ एक भी विद्याविभूषित सदस्य दिखायी नहीं देता । तुम्दारा कल्याण हो, मैं तो जाता हूँ । यहाँ मेरा नियोह नहीं हो सकठा ! इस मृ्लबहुत्त सभामें में केसे बेठ सकता हैँ १” ॥ ३६ उ3०-र७॥ वरुणपुत्रके इस प्रकार कहनेपर सभी सभासद स्व्रभावस दी क्रे:घर्मे भर गये [ और बोढे--] “भरे त्राक्षणाधम ! यू सभीका अपमान केसे कर रहा है ?॥ रे८॥ तुभमें ऐसी या विद्या है जिससे तू हम सभीकी जीत सकता है! मुख ! तू व्यर्थ क्यों घकथाद फरता है? अब हमें जीवकर ही जाना | २६ ॥। पद्चदशो5घ्याय: | २१३ आयो भूलोकसंस्थाना विद्वांसः सद्भताः खलु। कि त्व॑ भूलोकमेवाय जेतुमिच्छसि दुमेते ॥ ४० ॥
"Therefore, the illuminator is pure, having the sole nature of the illuminator. That, indeed, is the essence of light here, complete and of a single essence."
Verse 41
त्रद्वि का ते भवेध्या यया<स्माज्जेतुमिच्छसि । इत्युक्ततत्सु सम्येपष वारुणिः पुनराह तान ॥ ४१॥
"By that, space and time are pervaded, due to its illumination. Its completeness is the essence of light, as the non-essence is absent anywhere."
Verse 42
समयेन विजेष्वामि सवोन् वः क्षणमात्रतः। अहँ जितो भवद्धिस्तु सुद्रे स्पान्रिमज्जितः ॥ ४२॥
"Whether inside or outside, whatever is situated within the essence of light, therefore, that would not be the support, just as the mountain is not the peak."
Verse 43
युष्मास्रह मज्जयामि जित॑ जितमथापि वा। उपेत्येयं तु समय॑ विवदन्तु मया सह ॥ ४३॥
"In this way, the essence of light, engulfing all phenomena, shines independently in itself, everywhere and always."
Verse 44
इत्युक्त्वा सम्मति चक्रः सभ्या वादाय तेन तु । विवाद चक्ररन्यन्तं तेन वारुणिना द्विजाः। ॥ ४४ ॥
"This supreme consciousness is called Tripura, the supreme goddess. The knowers of the Vedas call it Brahman, and the best of the Vaishnavas call it Vishnu."
Verse 45
जिजेय वारुणिविंग्रान् वितण्डाजल्पवस्मेना सिन्धा निमज्जिता तिग्रा!ः शतशा5थ सहसखतन्नः ॥ ४५ ॥
"The best of the Shaivas call it Shiva, and those devoted to Shakti call it Shakti. Anything said apart from this form is insignificant."
Verse 46
निमज्जितास्तु ये विश्रा दू्तेस्तबारुणहताः यहाँ भूमण्डलके प्रायः सभी विद्वान् एकत्रित हुए हैं। क्यो रे दुबद्धि ! क्या तू अकेला ही सारे भूलोकको जीतना चाहता है | ४० ॥ वाल, तेरी वह क्या विद्या है, जिससे तू हमें जीतनेकी इच्छा करता हे ।” सभासदोंके ऐसा कहनेपर बरुणपुत्रने उनसे कहा-॥ ४१॥ “में एक शर्त करके तुम सभीको क्षणमात्रमें जीत सकता हूँ। यदि तुमलोग मुझ ज्ञीत लोतो मुझे समुद्र में डुबो देना। नहीं लो तुममेंसे ज्ञिस-ज्ञि पका में परास्त करूँगा उप डुबा दूंगा। इस शतको स्वीकार करो, फिर मेर साथ विवाद कर सकते हो”? ॥ ४२-४७ ॥ इस शर्तेकोीं स्वीकार कर सभी सभासदोंन उसके स्कथ विवाद् करनेका निणेय रिया | आर उन सभी आक्षणोंने उस बरुणपुत्रके साथ खूब शाखार्थ किया ॥ ४५ ॥ बरुणपुत्रने विवल््छा ओर जरुपके दारा सभी त्राह्मणोंको सीत लिया | आर इस प्रकार उसने खेकड़ों-.ह जाएं त्राह्मणांकी समुद्रमें डुवा दिया ॥2५॥ उन डुवाय हुए प्राह्षणंको वरुणके दूत ले जाते ओर 5. अपना कोई पक्त स्थापित न करते हुए केवछ दूस(क पक्तका खण्डन करना | २. अपने पतक्षक्रों स्थापित करते हुए दूसरेक पक्तका सण्डन करना । २१४ त्रिपुरारहस्ये ज्ञानखण्डे पाहण यज्ञमासाद्य मुम्रदु! पूजिता भृञ्षम ॥ ४६॥
"Indeed, pervaded by the power of consciousness, like the reflection in a mirror, its illumination is caused by the illuminated and the illuminated does not exist by itself."
Verse 47
माज्जत पितर श्रुत्वा कहोले तत्सुतस्ततः अष्टावक्रः समागत्य ज्ञानवेतण्ड्यजर्पकः ॥ ४७ ॥
"Indeed, the illuminated is submerged in light, like a city in a mirror. As the city in the mirror does not differ from the mirror."
Verse 48
विजित्य वारु्णि सिन्धावादिदेश निमज्जने। अथ॒ प्रकाशमापत्नों वारुणिद्विजमरुख्यकान् ॥ ४८ ॥
"Likewise, the world shines in consciousness and does not differ from it, just as the complete, compact, single-form mirror self."
Verse 49
समान यत्स्वलोकस्थानष्टावक्रेण. निर्जितः । अथागतेषु॒विश्रेष कहोलतनयो भृश्नम ॥ ४९॥
"As a separate city in a mirror in every way does not make sense, likewise, is the complete, compact, single-form conscious self."
Verse 50
विप्रान् विमोचितान्ू सवोनत्यवत्तेत दर्पतः अष्टावक्रण. विमता विग्राः खेदसुपागता: ॥ ५० ॥
"The world does not attain coherence of self in every way, but self like space, due to its nature of emptiness, does."
Verse 51
तत्काल आगतां कांचित्तापसीं शरणं ययुः तान्समाश्वास्य विग्रान् सा कापायास्वरवासिनी ॥ ५१ ॥
"The world always tolerates duality everywhere, but how can the existing consciousness, of non-empty nature and single essence, do so?"
Verse 52
जटिला. नित्फ्तरुणी मनोहरबपुधेरा । सभामुपेत्य पग्रोवाच नृपेणामिसुपूजिता ॥ ५२॥
"A second part, i.e., the world could be tolerated directly, like the nature of a mirror. Therefore, consciousness, like a mirror, possible due to the grandeur of independence."
Verse 53
"It would illuminate all moving and non-moving forms in the secondless, in its own form, devoid of cause and effect, highly vivid."
Verse 54
वरुणकी यज्ञशालामें पहुँचनेपर खूब सत्कार पाकर वे बड़े प्रसन्न होते थे ॥ ४६॥ कहोलका पुत्र अष्टावक्र वितण्डा और जल्पमें बड़ा प्रवीण था। जब उसने अपने पिताको समुद्र में डुवाया सुना तो बहाँ आकर वरुणपुत्रको परास्त किया और उसे समुद्रमें डुवानेका आदेश दिया ॥ ४७-४८ पू० ॥ अष्टावक्रसे परास्त होनेपर वरुणपुत्रने अपनेको प्रकट कर दिया और अपने लोकसे सभी द्विजश्रेष्ठोंकी ले आया ॥ ४८ उ०--४६ पू० ॥ सब ब्राह्मणोंके आनेपर कहोलपुत्रको बड़ा अभिमान हुआ और बह वरुणके यहाँस छड़ाये हुए ब्राह्मणांस अपना वड़प्पन प्रकट करने लगा | इस प्रकार अष्टाचक्रसे अपमानित होनेपर ब्राह्मणोंको बड़ा खेद हुआ ॥| ४६ उ०-५० ॥| उसी समय वहाँ एक तपस्विनी आयी | बड़ कापाय बल्न घारण, किये थी, उसके सिरपर जटाएँ थीं, योगाभ्यासके कारण नित्य तरुणावस्थामें रहती थी और अत्यन्त मनोहर शरीरबाली थी | राज़ाने उसका खूब सत्कार किया | वे सब उसकी शरणमें गये। उनको सान्त्वना दे उसने सभामें आकर कहा---॥ £४१-#< || पद्नदशो5ध्यायः । २११५ कहोलसुत वत्स त्वम॒त्यन्तं॑ बुद्धिमानसि । त्वया तिमोचिता विप्रा वादे निजित्य वारुणिम् ॥ ५३ ४ अहं पृच्छामि किस्जां वद दित्वा सुकेतवम्। यत्पद॑ विदितं सब्रोस्ृतत्वप्रतिपादकम् ॥ ५४ ॥
"As manifold forms shine in a mirror, even then, oneness shines clearly, without distinction, untainted."
Verse 55
यत्पदे विदिते स्सन्देहः प्रलयं अजेत । अविज्ञातं न किश्वित्स्यादाशास्यं वा न किश्वन ॥ ५५ ॥
"Likewise, in the varied world, even as manifold forms shine, one perfected by investigation remains, devoid of faults."
Verse 56
अवेदं विदितं तच्चेद्द मामुप सत्वरम् । तापस्येव॑ समापृष्ट. कहोलतनयोछ्वबीत ॥ ५६ ॥
"O king, behold in your self the state of the kingdom of mind, manifold varied forms, even pure consciousness."
Verse 57
विदितं तत्पदं॑ भूयों वच्मि तापसि संशृणु । न मे द्विदित लोके हास्ति क्रिश्वित्कियक्ष्दिदम् ॥ ५७ ॥
"In creation or in dissolution, that consciousness is like the undifferentiated, in presence or absence of the reflection, like a mirror."
Verse 58
मया शाखत्राणि सवोभि भूयः संलुठितानि वे। यक्त्वं पृच्ठसि सइस्ये शणु तापसि तक्ततः ॥ ५८ ॥
"Even in this single form, consciousness, due to the cause of independence, illuminates within, like the sky in a mirror."
Verse 59
तद्धि स्बेजगढ्वेतुरादिमध्यान्तव्जितम् । देशकालानवच्छि्न॑ शुद्धाखण्डचिदात्मकम् ॥ ५९ ॥
"This first establishment is called ignorance, darkness, due to this, it appears as if it is a part of the complete, as if illumination is called the external appearance."
Verse 60
“कहोलपुत्र ! बेटा ! तुम बड़े बुद्धिमान दो। तुमने बरुणपुत्रको विवादमें जीतकर सभो बआाझ्णोंको छुड़ा दिया ॥ श३ ॥ में तुमसे कुछ पूछतो हूँ । तुम कपट त्यागकर बताओ । जो पद जान लिये जानेपर सब प्रकार की अमरता प्रदान करनेषाला है, जिस पदको जान लेनेपर सारे सन्देह निवृत्त हो जाते हैं, कुछ भी जानना शेष नहीं रहता और न कोई चाहने-योग्य बस्तु ही रहती है, ऐसा जो अवेद पद दे वह यदि तुम्हें विदित है तो शीघ्र ही मेरे सामने कद्दो !” तपस्विनीके द्वारा इस प्रकार पूछे जानेपर कट्दोक्षपुत्रने कद्दा-4॥३४--५६॥ “डस पदको मैं अच्छी तरद जानता हूँ और तपस्थिनीजी ! सुनो, तुम्हें बताता हूँ । संसारमें ऐसी कोई बात नहीं दे जो में नहों जानता। तुम्दारे इस प्रश्नमें तो है ही क्या ९॥ »७ । मैंने सारे ही शाश्रोंका अनेकों बार आलोडन किया है। तुम जो छुछ पूछ॒ती दो अभी ठोक-ठीक बताये देता हूं। तपस्विनीजी ! छुनिये ॥ ५८॥ तुम्दारा पूछा पद ही सम्पूर्ण जगतका मूल कारण है। उसका न २१६ त्रिपुरा रहंस्पे ज्ञानखण्डे यदुपाश्रित्थ वे सत्र जगदेतद्विराजते । आदक्षेनगरप्रख्य॑ तदेतत्परमं॑ पदम ॥ ६० ॥
"From the division of the complete I-feeling, this form of the I-feeling is indeed called the unmanifest, and is described as the inert power (causing ignorance)."
Verse 61
प्राप्योति तद्विदित्वव निश्वलाम्ृतसंस्थितिम् । आदर्श विदिते यद्टम सन्देहः कचिद्धवेत ॥ ६१ ॥
"Which consciousness, here manifesting externally in a fragmented manner, is said to be the Shiva principle. That power is its illumination."
Verse 62
प्रतिविम्भेष्वनन्तीपधू ने स्थादविदित तथा ! नाशास्यं वा भवेत्किद्धिदेवं प्रविदिते परे ॥ ६२ ॥
"The external form is imagined as the great void, indeed, filled by the covering of the I-feeling, is remembered as always filled with Shiva."
Verse 63
तचाप्यवेद्यमन्यस्य वेदकादेरभावतः एवं तापसि तत्तत्व॑ शास्ररष्या विभावितम् ॥ ६३ ॥
"That indeed, in the primary state of inertia, is considered as called Ishvara. But the consciousness of these two (Jiva & Ishvara) is the examination of distinction and non-distinction."
Verse 64
इत्यष्टावक्राचन श्रत्वा सा पुनरत्रबीत् । मुनिदारक सक्त ते यथावत्सत्रसम्मतम् ॥ ६४ ॥
"Thus, this much is called pure knowledge, said to be pure, due to the power of distinction not fully grown and due to the illumination of the non-distinct self."
Verse 65
यदुक्त वेदकाभात्रादवेच्ं तदिति लगा । __ आप्नोति तद्विदित्वेर चामृतं॑ पदमव्ययम् ॥ ६५ ॥
"Then, due to the fullness of consciousness's independence, in the fully grown feeling of distinction, the inert power attained the state of possessing attributes, and consciousness attained the state of being the essence of attributes."
Verse 66
आदि है, न मध्य है और न अन्त है । वह देश ओर कालसे सीमित नहीं है तथा शुद्ध, अखण्ड और चिन्मय है ॥ ४६ ॥ दपणमें प्रतिविम्बित नगरके समान जिसका आश्रय लेकर यह सारा जगत् विद्यमान हे बही तुम्हारा पूछा हुआ परम पद है ॥ ६० ॥ जिस प्रकार दर्षणको जान लेनेपर उमपमें प्रतिविम्बित किसी भी वसस््तुकी स्थितिके विषयमें कोई सन्देह नहीं रहता उसी प्रकार उस पदको जान लेनेपर ही साधक अविचल अमरपद प्राप्त कर लेता है ॥६१॥ तथा जेसे [ दर्पणका ज्ञान होनेपर ) उसके अनन्त प्रतिबिम्योंमें से कोई भी अज्ञात नहीं रहता उसी प्रकार उस परसपदको जान लेनेपर किसी वस्तुकी आशा ( चाह ) नहीं रहती ॥ ६२॥ अवश्य ही वद् किसी अन्यक्े द्वारा नहीं जाना ज्ञा समझता; क्योंकि इसका कोई अन्य ज्ञाता हे ही नहीं। दपस्विनीजी ! शात्न-्टथ्टिसे उतर तत्त्वके विपय में ऐसा निणय किया गया है” ॥ ६३॥ अष्टांबक्रका ऐला कथन सुनकर बह फिर बाली, “भुनिपुत्र ! तुम्दारा कथन बड़ा सुन्दर है | तथा बह यथार्थ आंर सर्वंतम्मत भी हूँ ॥ ६४ ॥ किन्सु तुमने जो कहा कि उसका काई अन्य श्ञाता न होनेके 'कारण बह पद अवेध है ओर [ साथ ही यह भी कदा कि ] उसे जान पद्चदशोष्ध्यायः । २१७ इति पूर्वोत्ततचों मन्यसे सड्भत कथम् | अवेद्य चेन जानामि नास्तीति च निरूपय ॥ ६६ ॥
"Then, that inert power is considered the principle of illusion, but the intellect of distinction is due to the abundance of the feeling of distinction."
Verse 67
अछ्ति जानासि यदि तदबेधमिति मा बंद । अथतत्तु या विप्र शाखद्श्या विभावितम् ॥ ६७॥
"Enveloped by the abundance of distinction, consciousness, contracted in nature, enveloped by the five sheaths, attains the state of the individual soul."
Verse 68
न॒तत्स्त्रय विजानासि तस्मात्तन्नापरोक्षकम् । दृष्ा प्रत्यक्षतः सर्वे प्रतिबिम्ब॑ यथास्थितम् ॥ ६८ ॥
"The five sheaths are the power of action, power of knowledge, attachment, time, and destiny. The power of action results in limited doership, and the power of knowledge results in limited knowledge."
Verse 69
आदक्ष न विजानासि प्रत्यक्षेणेति तत्कथम्। एवं वदन् समामध्ये जनकस्यास्य वे पुरः ॥ ६९ ॥
"Attachment is called thirst, limitation is due to lifespan, and time is called destiny. Endowed with these, the individual soul becomes subservient."
Verse 70
परिभूत॑ स्वमात्मानं मन्यसे नो कर्थ वद्। एयमुक्तस्तया तत्र नेत्र प्रोवाच किश्वन ॥ ७० ॥
"Presiding over by the power of consciousness, various beginningless actions of people, the aggregate of tendencies, established, is called nature."
Verse 71
विमना इवं सच्नातो लज्जिताउमवदज्ञसा। अवाडधुखः क्षणं स्थित्वा त्रिचायान्तस्तयेरितम् ॥ ७१ ॥
"The result of actions is threefold because she (nature) has three forms. The difference in states is indeed called the mind."
Verse 72
तत्यश्षात्तरमगप्राप्प तां प्राह दिजसत्तमः । लेनेपर हो साधक अविनाशी अमरपद प्राप्त कर लेता ह--सो, इन पहले और पिछले दोनों वाक्योंकी परस्पर संगति केस लगेगी ? ॥६५-६६ पू०।। यदि वह अवेद्य हैं तो कहो कि में इसे नहीं जानता अथवा वह पद है ही नहीं । और यवि बह है तथा तुम उसे जानते हो तो ऐसा मत कहो कि बह अवेय है | ६६ 3२-६७ पू? | इसके सित्रा त्राद्मणदेशता ! तुमने तो यह बात शाब्मदृष्टिस कल्पना कर की ह। स्वयं अनुभव करके तो जानी नहीं | इसालय उसका तुम्हं अपरोध्क ज्ञान ता दे नहीं ॥ ६७ 3०-६८ पू? ॥ जय तुन सारे प्रतिबिम्धको ज्योंका त्यां प्रत्यक्ष देखते हो ता [ उसके क्ष्यभुत ] दपणको प्रत्यक्ष क्यों नहीं जानते ? ॥ ६८ उ०-६६ पू? ।।« इस सभामें राजा जनकके सामने ऐसो बात कहने हुए भी, भला बताओ तो, तुम अपनेको परास्त €६आ क्यो नहां मानते १? ॥ ६६ 3३-७५ पू० ॥ दपस्विनीक एंसा कहनपर अष्टाचक्र कुछ भी न बोल सका | दह उदाससा हो गया ओर स्वभाव दी लज्जित भी हुआ ॥ ७० 3८-७१ पू9 ॥| कुछ देर नीचा मुख किये बठा रद्दा ओर उस्र तपस्बिनीके कथनआ र्श्८ त्रिपुरारहस्ये ज्ञानखण्डे तापस्यहं॑ न जानामि त्वत्म्नश्नस्योत्तरं बच ॥ ७२ ॥
"In deep sleep, one’s nature should be known. After that, it is called the mind. Consciousness with the aggregate of tendencies is said to be the mind."
Verse 73
शिष्योष्हू॑ ते वद॑तन्मे कथमेतन्निरुपितम् । ] कक ७ नाह वदाम्यनृूतक तपोहरमनर्थंकम् ॥ ७३॥
"This unmanifest is indeed said to be due to the state of the aggregate of tendencies. By the distinction of individuals, the mind becomes various."
Verse 74
इत्याएट्टा तापसी सा असन्ना तस्य सत्यतः | अष्टावक्र प्रत्युवाच धृण्चतां च सभासदाम् ॥ ७४ ॥
"Without distinction, that one state of beings in deep sleep indeed attains true nature. After that, it goes into the state of mind."
Verse 75
है ५ ८ ओर बिक ञ्र वत्सतदविदित्ववग. बहवो मोहमागताः । शुष्कर्तकेरविज्येये सर्वेत्रेव सुगोपितम ॥ ७५॥
"This person is indeed said to be due to the predominance of consciousness. But due to the predominance of the unmanifest, it goes into the state of mind and nature."
Verse 76
एतावत्सु सभासत्सु न विजानाति कश्नन । राजाध्यं वेत््यहं वापि वेज्ि नान््यस्तु कश्नन ॥ ७६ ॥
"Due to the distinction of actions, that inner instrument is called threefold: ego, intellect, and mind, O best of kings."
Verse 77
सवंत्र हि विवादेषु नेतत्श्नोत्तर कचित्। प्राय बिदुर्हि विद्वांसस्तकेमात्रसमाश्रया ॥ ७७ ॥
"Of the knowledge and action senses, fivefold they would become. From that, separately, the elements are sound, sky, etc., both gross and subtle are born."
Verse 78
हाँ जितने सभासद हैँ डनमेंसे भी कोई नहीं जानता। या तो यह राजा जानता हे या में जानतो हूं, ओर कोई नहीं ॥ ५६ || है सब जगह वाद-तिवादोंमें भी इस प्रकारका भ्रश्नोत्तर कहीं नहीं होता | त्रिद्वान लोग भी प्रायः तकमात्रका आश्रय लेकर ही इसे जानते हूं || ७७ ॥ जनम किन्तु सदुगुरुकी सेवा और इष्टदेवकी कृपा आदिके विना कंवद़ पद्चदशो5ध्यायः । २१६ विना सद्गुरुसेवाया देवतालुग्रहादिना ॥ ७८ ॥
"Thus, the supreme consciousness, with the external appearance as a precursor, performs play in the order of creation, etc., witnessing all."
Verse 79
मुनिपृत्राभिधास्यामि श्ृण्वेतत्सक्ष्म्या षिया। नेद श्रुत्वापि विज्ञेयं ताटस्थ्यप्राणया घिया ॥ ७९ ॥
"There, influenced by the primordial power of Tripura in creation, Hiraṇyagarbha, who is Brahmā, arises from this contemplation."
Verse 80
यावदेतद्धि विज्ञानमनुदाहतमात्मनि । तावत्सहस्रशः प्रोक्त श्रुत॑ चापि निरथेकम् ॥ ८० ॥
"There, but the consciousness which manifests as 'you' and 'I', she is indeed the supreme power of consciousness. There is no distinction of that."
Verse 81
जिस प्रकार कोई पुरुष अपने गलेमें पड़े मोतियोंके हारको भ्रप्वश न जानकर अज्ञानवश समभता दे कि उसे चोरों ने चुरा लिया ॥ ८१ ॥
"The distinction appears due to limitations, indeed contemplated in Brahman. In the cessation of that contemplation, the appearance of distinction does not exist."
Verse 82
यथा कश्नित्स्कण्ठस्थ॑ मुक्ताहारं प्रमादतः । अविज्ञाय हत॑ चोरेमेन्यते मृढभावतः ॥ <१ ॥ प्रयोधितोषि स पुनः कण्ठेडस्तीति हि केनचित् । स्वात्मानमनुदाह॒त्य. यावत्कण्ठ॑े न परद्यति ॥ ८२॥
"The power of contemplation of consciousness, covered by illusion, but in the removal of that covering, you will attain success."
Verse 83
तावन्नाप्नोति कण्ठस्थं हारं॑ सक्ष्मविमइयपि । एवं मुनिसुतात्मानं स्वस्वभाव निश्चवम्य च ॥ ८३॥
"Place, time, or something, are defined as contemplated by whom, thus it would appear there due to the difference in extent and subtlety."
Verse 84
शयो5तिनिपुणो5्प्यन्तरात्मानमनुदाहरेत्._। यावत्तावद्गहिः कुत्र कं तद्विदितं भवेत् ॥ ८४ ॥
"Contemplated by me as one day, that one day is indeed here, in the form of twelve billion years by Brahma."
Verse 85
तकंद्वारा सूक्ष्म बुद्धिसे इसे कभी कोई *नहों जान सकता || ७८ | मुनिपुत्र ! में तुम्हें सममाती हूँ, तुम एकाग्रचित्त होकर सुनो । तटस्थ प्राण ( असमाहित चित्त ) रहनेपर तो इसे सुनकर भी कोई जान नहीं सकता || ७६ ॥ जबतक यह विज्ञान अपने अन्तःकरणम्रें अनुभूत नहीं होता तबतक हजारों बार सुनाना या सुनना भी व्यथे ही होता है ॥ ८५ ॥
"Thus contemplated by him, this appearance of difference of long and short duration, in the created mountain by Brahma, measured by a span and a gavyūti."
Verse 86
उसे कोई ऐसा सममाते भी कि यहद्ट तेरे गले में है तो भी जबदक अपने शरीरके अभिमुख होकर वह अपने कण्ठका नहीं देखता तवतक, बड़ा सूदम विचार करनव्राला होनेपर भी, डस बढ़ कण्ठस्थ द्वार नहीं मिलता, इसी प्रकार हे मुनिप्रत्र! अपन आत्मा आर आत्माके स्वभाषके विषयमें बार-बार सुनकर भी जबतक समष्दितचित्त होकर आत्माफे अभिमुख नहीं होता तबतक अत्यन्त निपुण 3रुप भी उसे बाटर कहाँ और केसे जान सकता है ?॥ ८२--८५ ॥ ५, अर्थात् 'मैं ऐसा हूँ या नहीं! ऐसा निर्णय करनेके लिये अम्तःकरण समाहित होकर अपने स्वरूपके अभिमुख् नहीं होता । २२० त्रिपुरारहस्ये ज्ञानखण्डे यथा हि दीपो विपयान्प्रकाशयति स्वतः । स्वयं प्रकाइ्यतां नेति क्रचिद्ीपप्य कस्यचित् ॥ ८५ ॥ प्रकाशते स्वयं चेवानपेक्ष्यान्य॑ प्रकाशकम् । एवं ख्योदये सर्वे ग्रकाश्बकतया स्थिताः ॥ ८६ ॥
"But by me, due to contemplation of the infinite region in the mountain, thus both are here, true and false indeed."
Verse 87
एवं च कि दीपपुखा अप्रकाश्यत्वहेतुतः न सन्ति न प्रकाशन्ते इति वक्तुं हि युज्यते ॥ ८७ ॥
"You also, within, contemplating a place measured by a krosha, and time formed of moments, can further contemplate there indeed, infinite yojanas."
Verse 88
एवं प्रकाइयभूतेषु सत्सु दीपसुखेपु वें । अत्यन्तमप्रकाश्यं यज्ित्तत्व॑ तत्कुतो बंद ॥ ८८ ॥
"Innumerable time also appears as long as contemplation does. Therefore, this external world is the form of mere contemplation."
Verse 89
"In the form of consciousness, the unmanifest appears, O lord of men. Therefore, the world, full of images, is on the unmanifest background of the external self."
Verse 90
असंवेद्॑ प्रकाशेत चेत्यत्र विचिकित्सियम् । तस्मात्तमन्तम्रुंखया दुष्थ्या सम्यग्विचारय ॥ <९ ॥ चिच्छक्तिरेगा परमा तिपुरा स्वेसंश्रया । स्रोविभासनी कुत्र कदा वा ने प्रकाशते ॥ ९० ॥

यदा सा न ग्रकाशेत प्रकाशेत तदा नु किस्। अप्रकाशेनापि सेब्र चितिशक्तिः प्रकाशते ॥ ९१ ॥

जिस प्रकार दीपक सब ओर विषयोंको प्रकाशित करता है किन्तु स्तय कभी किसी अन्य दीपकका प्रकाश्य नहीं होता वह किसी अन्य अकाशककी अपेक्षा न रखकर स्वयं ही प्रकाशित होता है, इसी भ्रकार सुझ्ाद अन्य सब भी प्रकाशक रूपसे ही स्थित हेँ ॥ ८*--८६ || ऐसी अवस्थामें अग्रकाश्य होनेके कारण क्या यह कहना ठीक हूं किय दीपक आदि हैं ही नहीं अथवा प्रकाशित ही नहीं होते || ८७ ॥ इस श्रकार जब प्रकाशित होनेवाले दीपक आदिके बिषयमें ऐसी वात हैं, तब जो अत्यन्त अप्रकाश्य [ अर्थात् जो कभी किसीका भी िपय नहीं होता | उस चेतन तत्त्वके विषयमें यदि यह कहा जाता है कि वह अज्ञेय हैं ओर प्रकाशितभी होता है! तो इसमें सन्देह क्यों होता हू / अतः तुम अन्तमुंख दृष्टिसि खूब विचार करो ॥ ८८-८६ ॥ यह सर्वात्कष्टा चित:शक्ति ही सबकी आश्रयभूता त्रिपुरा देवी हैं| वही सबको प्रकाशित करनेवाल्ली है । अत वह कब और कहाँ प्रकाशित नहीं होती ? ॥ ६० ॥ जब बह प्रकाशित नहीं होगी तब और ही क्या प्रकाशित होगा) पतन्चदशोष्ध्यायः । २२१ अप्रकाशों यथा भाति सा न भायात्कथथ वद्। भाति चेत्सा कर्थ भाति विमृशेतत्सुद्क्ष्मतः ॥ ९२ ॥

विदित्वेवमवेद्यं च॒प्राप्छुयादमृतां स्थितिम । तन कं क.--+-० ९५०म.3-+०मक» 4 कनमनना- तय गा अप्रकाशरूपसे भी तो बह चितिशक्ति ही प्रकाशित होती है ॥ ६१ ॥ भला, जिससे अप्रकाशका भी भान होता है वह स्वयं क्यों भासित नहीं होगी ? और यदि भासती हे तो किप्त प्रकार भासती ह--इसपर सूक्ष्म दृष्टिसे विचार करो || ६२ ॥ अन्तदेष्ट हुए बिना इस रहस्यको बड़े निपुण विद्वान भी नहीं सममभ पाते | इसीसे वे मोहग्रस्त रहकर संसार-चक्रमें पड़े रहते हूँ ॥६३:॥ जबतक दृष्टि बाह्य प्रवृत्तिको त्यागकर स्थिर नहीं होर्ती तबतक किसी प्रकार अन्तरेष्टिता भी प्राप्त नहीं हो सकती ॥ ६४ ॥॥ ओर जबतक अन्तदंष्टि नहीं होती तबतक उसका साक्षात्कार नहीं होता । अन्तरंष्टि तो निःसंकल्पता है अतः संकल्पोंके रहते हुए वह केसे हो सकती हैँ ॥| ६५ ।। अतः तुम संकल्पोंको अच्छी तरह त्यागकर अपने स्वरूपका आश्रय लो और एक क्षण स्वरूपमें स्थित रहकर फिर निश्चिन्त हो जाओ ॥६६॥ फिर उस अवस्थाके स्मरण द्वारा तुम यह सब कुछ जान जाओगे कि वह तत्त्व अश्लेय है और सुज्ञेय भी हे--ऐसा क्यों कहा जाता हूं ॥६»॥। इस प्रकार उस अविशेय तत्त्को जानकर तुम अमृत-स्थिति श्र त्रिपुरारहस्ये ज्ञानखण्डे एतत्तेउभिहित स्व॑ मुनिपुत्र नमो5्स्तु ते ॥ ९८॥
