Verse 1
आनन्दे महति प्राप्ते दृष्टे वा बान्धवे चिरात्। आनन्दम् उद्गतं ध्यात्वा तल्लयस् तन्मना भवेत्॥ ७१॥
ānande mahati prāpte dṛṣṭe vā bāndhave cirāt | ānandam udgataṁdhyātvā tal layas tan manā bhavet || 71 ||
When great joy is attained, or when a relative is seen after a long time, one should meditate on the joy that has arisen from that experience, and become absorbed in that joy, with one's mind fixed upon it.
Verse 2
जग्धिपानकृतोल्लासरसानन्दविजृम्भणात्। भावयेद् भरितावस्थां महानन्दस् ततो भवेत्॥ ७२॥
jagdhi pāna kṛtollāsa rasānanda vijṛmbhaṇāt | bhāvayed bharitāvasthāṁmahānandas tato bhavet || 72 ||
From the expansion of the bliss which is the essence of the delight caused by eating and drinking, one should contemplate the state of fullness; thereafter, great bliss comes into being.
Verse 3
गितादिविषयास्वादासमसौख्यैकतात्मनः। योगिनस् तन्मयत्वेन मनोरूढेस् तदात्मता॥ ७३॥
gitādi viṣayāsvādā sama saukhyaikatāt manaḥ | yoginas tan mayatvena mano rūḍhes tad ātmatā || 73 ||
Just as the individual self is characterized by oneness with the happiness equal to the enjoyment of sensory objects like music, etc.; so too, the Yogi, through absorption in That (Brahman) and by the mind's firm establishment (in That), attains the nature of That.
Verse 4
यत्र यत्र मनस् तुष्टिर् मनस् तत्रैव धारयेत्। तत्र तत्र परानन्दस्वारूपं सम्प्रवर्तते॥ ७४॥
yatra yatra manas tuṣṭir manas tatraiva dhārayet | tatra tatra parānanda svārūpaṁsampravartate || 74 ||
Wherever the mind finds contentment, one should fix the mind precisely there. In each such place, the very form of supreme bliss manifests.
Verse 5
अनागतायां निद्रायाम् प्रणष्टे बाह्यगोचरे। सावस्था मनसा गम्या परा देवी प्रकाशते॥ ७५॥
anāgatāyāṁnidrāyām praṇaṣṭe bāhya gocare | sāvasthā manasā gamyā parā devī prakāśate || 75 ||
When sleep has not yet arrived and external perceptions have vanished, that state, attainable by the mind, is where the Supreme Divine shines forth.
Verse 6
तेजसा सूर्यदीपादेर् आकाशे शबलीकृते। दृष्टिर् निवेश्या तत्रैव स्वात्मरूपम् प्रकाशते॥ ७६॥
tejasā sūrya dīpāder ākāśe śabalī kṛte | dṛṣṭir niveśyā tatraiva svātma rūpam prakāśate || 76 ||
When space is made variegated by the light of the sun, a lamp, etc., and the gaze is fixed precisely there, one's own true form shines forth.
Verse 7
करङ्किण्या क्रोधनया भैरव्या लेलिहानया। खेचर्या दृष्टिकाले च परावाप्तिः प्रकाशते॥ ७७॥
karaṅkiṇyā krodhanayā bhairavyā lelihānayā | khecaryā dṛṣṭi kāle ca parāvāptiḥprakāśate || 77 ||
Through Karaṅkiṇī, Krodhanā, Bhairavī, Lelihānā, and Khecarī, at the time of perception, the supreme attainment manifests.
Verse 8
मृद्वासने स्फिजैकेन हस्तपादौ निराश्रयम्। निधाय तत्प्रसङ्गेन परा पूर्णा मतिर् भवेत्॥ ७८॥
mṛdvāsane sphijaikena hastapādau nirāśrayam | nidhāya tat prasaṅgena parā pūrṇā matir bhavet || 78 ||
By placing one's hands and feet unsupported, while sitting on a soft seat with just one buttock, through this practice, one's understanding becomes supreme and complete.
Verse 9
उपविश्यासने सम्यग् बाहू कृत्वार्धकुञ्चितौ। कक्षव्योम्नि मनः कुर्वन् शममायाति तल्लयात्॥ ७९॥
upaviśyāsane samyag bāhū kṛtvārdha kuñcitau | kakṣa vyomni manaḥkurvan śamam āyāti tal layāt || 79 ||
Having sat properly on the seat, with both arms slightly bent, placing the mind in the space of the armpits, one attains tranquility through absorption in that (space).
Verse 10
स्थूलरूपस्य भावस्य स्तब्धां दृष्टिं निपात्य च। अचिरेण निराधारं मनः कृत्वा शिवं व्रजेत्॥ ८०॥
sthūla rūpasya bhāvasya stabdhāṁdṛṣṭiṁnipātya ca | acireṇa nirādhāraṁmanaḥkṛtvā śivaṁvrajet || 80 ||
Having fixed a steady gaze upon the gross form of existence, and quickly rendering the mind supportless, one should attain Shiva.
