How to Navigate VedaSeek: A User's Guide
VVedaSeek Team
July 30, 2024Welcome to VedaSeek! Our platform is designed to be both powerful and intuitive. This guide will walk you through the main navigational features and settings to help you get the most out of your study.
Main Navigation: The Header
The header at the top of every page is your primary navigation tool.
- Chapters Menu: This dropdown menu is your gateway to the sacred texts. Here you can select the book you wish to study, such as the Bhagavad Gita, Guru Gita, or the Upanishads.
- Search Bar: The central feature of the header is the search bar. You can perform two types of searches:
- Keyword Search: Simply type a word or phrase to find all occurrences in the selected text.
- AI Conceptual Search: Ask a question in natural language (e.g., "What is the nature of selfless action?") and click "Search with AI" to find verses that are conceptually related to your query, even if they don't contain the exact keywords.
- Settings & User Menu: On the right, you'll find icons for managing your experience:
- Donate: A direct link to support our mission.
- Theme (Palette Icon): Switch between the default Vedic theme, a clean Light mode, or a Dark mode.
- Language (Globe Icon): Change the interface language.
- User Profile: Log in to access your profile or manage admin settings if you are an administrator.
The Chapter View: Your Reading Pane
When you are reading a chapter, you have several powerful tools at your fingertips.
- Chapter Actions: At the top of the page, you'll find buttons to "Explain Chapter," "Chat about Chapter," or "Listen to Chapter." These AI-powered tools provide high-level summaries, interactive conversation, and audio playback for the entire chapter.
- Verse Card: Each verse is presented on its own "card" with a suite of tools:
- Listen: Play audio of the verse in Sanskrit or its English explanation.
- Explain: Get a detailed, AI-powered explanation of that specific verse's meaning and context.
- Chat: Open a chat window with an AI that is already focused on the context of that specific verse.
- Copy: Easily copy the verse number, Sanskrit text, and translation to your clipboard.
Customizing Your Reading Experience: The Floating Settings Button
On any chapter page, look for the floating Settings cog icon in the bottom-right corner. Clicking this opens the Display Settings panel, where you can customize what you see on the page.
- Content Visibility:
- Show Transliteration: Toggle the Romanized Sanskrit text on or off.
- Show Default Translation: Toggle the classic, scholarly translation.
- Show AI Translation: Toggle the simple, AI-generated translation. You can show both or just one.
- Text Display:
- Font Family: Choose between a modern sans-serif font or a classic serif font for reading.
- Font Size: Adjust the text size for your comfort.
We encourage you to experiment with these settings to create the reading environment that works best for you. Happy exploring!
